Extremities
by William Mastrosimone
Directed by Gail Ready
Auditions: Monday & Tuesday, August 11 & 12 at 6:30pm at the Imogene Theatre in downtown Pensacola. The script calls for 1 male and 3 females. All actors auditioning should be, or appear to be, over the age of 25. Age of the characters is somewhat flexible. Each of the roles in this play is meaty and challenging. Perusal copies of the script will be available at 6:00 p.m. You will be asked to read from the script, alone or in groups. You may also present a prepared piece.
Performances: October 3, 4, 5 and 10, 11, 12
"An intense, adult drama with a powerful message about sexual assault. Contains strong profanity which some may find offensive. Audiences are cautioned. No children will be admitted. A representative from the Pensacola Junior College Rape Crisis Center will have an information table set up in the parlor to help bring awareness of this serious social issue to the public and offer avenues of assistance to those seeking guidance."
Synopsis: The Associated Press described this drama as "a searing play about rape". That it is, and much more: it is also about the breaking point we all have, the extremity in all of us over which, when pushed hard enough, we tumble into violence. Susan Sarandon, Farrah Fawcett and Lauren Hutton have all starred in this incredibly gripping drama about a young woman who is attacked in her own home by a rapist. She manages to overpower the man, and imprisons him, bound, inside her fireplace grate. She then proceeds to exact her revenge. When her roommates return she is so crazy they wonder who to believe their wild eyed roommate, or the guy in their fireplace who claims he was attacked when he stopped by to use the phone. Eventually, the roommates have to try to talk the victim out of her ultimate revenge burying the rapist alive!

Always.....Patsy Cline
by Ted Swindley
Directed by Joe Perna
Auditions: October 13 and 14 at 7:00pm at the Imogene Theatre
Performances: December TBA
Synopsis: Always...Patsy Cline is based on the true story of Patsy Cline's friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger. Having first heard Cline on the "Arthur Godfrey Show" in 1957, Seger became an immediate and avid fan of Cline's and she constantly hounded the local disc jockey to play Cline's records on the radio.
In 1961 when Cline went to Houston for a show, Seger and her buddies arrived about an hour-and-a-half early and, by coincidence, met Cline who was traveling alone. The two women struck up a friendship that was to culminate in Cline spending the night at Seger's house--a friendship that lasted until Cline's untimely death in a plane crash in 1963.
The relationship, which began as fan worship evolved into one of mutual respect. It is the kind of relationship that many fans would like to have with their heroes.
The play focuses on the fateful evening at Houston's Esquire Ballroom when Seger hears of Cline's death in a plane crash. Seger supplies a narrative while Cline floats in and out of the set singing tunes that made her famous--Anytime, Walkin' After Midnight, She's Got You, Sweet Dreams, and Crazy--to name a few.
The show combines humor, sadness and reality. It offers fans who remember Cline while she was alive a chance to look back, while giving new fans an idea of what seeing her was like and what she meant to her original fans.
